EMDR and IFS intensives help you heal trauma in your nervous system so you can have more capacity to deal with the hard moments

Trauma Therapy in Draper and UtahWhat are EMDR & IFS intensives?

EMDR and IFS are two trauma methods that work below the thinking part of your brain, where logical insight can't reach. An intensive is a longer session that gives you the time to gently do this type of deeper work. EMDR and IFS work with your nervous system, where trauma is stored, so your brain finishes the processing it couldn't complete, and the memory loses the charge that keeps pulling you back into it.

intensives can work through:

  • Anxiety that won't switch off

  • People-pleasing and fear of conflict

  • Childhood trauma and a difficult relationship with a parent

  • Religious trauma or a shift in faith

  • A harsh inner critic and never feeling good enough

  • Guilt for having your own needs

  • Fear of disappointing others

  • A specific experience you've never fully moved past

Holistic Therapy in Draper and UtahInstead of talking about it in circles, an EMDR & IFS intensive gives you the format to reach the root of it and help your body realize that the past is in the past.

Hi, I’m Haley TolmanTrauma Therapist in Utah and Draper, LCSW

I work with high-achieving, deeply feeling women who carry more than they let on. You're the one people can always count on, but despite all your achievements, you don’t feel at peace with yourself.

You’ve probably done therapy before and you know yourself well, but the anxiety, people-pleasing, religious trauma, and your inner critic haven't budged. Understanding why things are the way they are wasn’t enough to change them.

In talk therapy, around the 40-minute mark, once your guard finally comes down and you're settled enough for the deeper work, it's time to stop. Then you wait a week, walk back in, and spend half the next session getting there again.

I started offering EMDR & IFS intensives to give ambitious, sensitive women both the time and the tools to heal deeper and get free of the patterns they've been managing for years.

There are two ways to work with me:

A multi-day intensive to tackle a specific problem or experience, and ongoing intensives for the painful patterns that run deeper.

The Multi-Day Intensive

A focused, 4-day session format for working through one issue or traumatic experience.

This is for the experience or issue you can clearly name, such as a painful event, a breakup, an assault, an argument, or a specific behavior pattern that you want to make progress on (ex: people-pleasing).

We set aside a dedicated block of sessions for that one focus, moving through it with EMDR and IFS, with enough time to settle in, process it deeply, and ground before you leave.

You'll start with an intake session, come back a week or two later for two processing days scheduled back-to-back, and finish with an integration session about a week later.

Investment: $2,800, split into two payments
Additional payment plans available

Ongoing Intensives

Extended 3-hour sessions, scheduled at your pace, for deeper and more complex work.

This is for the behaviors, feelings, and trauma that took years to take shape, such as a very difficult relationship with a parent and patterns woven through your whole story rather than tied to a single event.

These sessions are ongoing, but they aren't talk therapy stretched longer. Each 3-hour block uses EMDR and IFS to reach the subconscious parts of your brain where trauma lives, and the goal is fully reprocessing how you feel and react to triggers.

Investment: $750 per intensive.
Please note: a separate 90-minute intake session is required before the first intensive ($300).

Trauma EMDR Therapy in Utah and DraperWhich Intensive Is Right for You?

Choose Multi-Day Intensive if…

You want to work through one event or one clear pattern, such as a painful conversation, going no-contact with a parent, a breakup, an assault, or behaviors that only show up in specific circumstances.

Choose Ongoing Intensives if…

What you're carrying is harder to point at because it's threaded through your whole story. It took years to build, like growing up managing a parent's moods or a lifetime of putting yourself last, and it needs steady work over time to reach and reprocess.

If you’re not sure which format is right for you, I can give my recommendation during your free consultation!

You may be wondering…But what would I even talk about for three or four hours?

This is a common question I hear, and it comes from picturing an intensive as talk therapy stretched to three or four hours, which it isn't.

There is a structure that I hold throughout your session. We start with preparation skills and exercises we do together, and then move into EMDR and IFS, where much of the work happens internally, not through talking.

You won’t be sitting there trying to find something to say.

EMDR and IFS aren’t talk therapy, and the length of the sessions has a purpose. Trauma work has a natural arc to help you settle in, reach the hard material, and come back up gently, so nothing feels too ‘intense’ and there’s room for new insights to finish integrating.

Your answer to “therapy intensives near me”EMDR and IFS, working together

Most patterns run on two tracks: a stuck memory your brain never finished filing, and a protective part of you that formed to keep you safe around it.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, like following a dot on screen or tapping side to side, to help your brain reprocess the memory so it stops feeling as painful in the present. In turn, IFS helps you get to know the parts of you that learned to please & achieve, and tends to the younger wounds sitting underneath them.

I’m trained in both EMDR and IFS, and I use both in my trauma intensives, leaning into whichever method is more helpful for your experiences and goals.

Why an EMDR & IFS intensive instead of weekly talk therapy?

Talk therapy is often where healing starts. It builds self-awareness and gives you language for what you've been carrying. But it has a ceiling, because the part of your brain that understands your history isn't the part that runs your reactions.

You can have all the logical insight, but still flinch, freeze, or over-give when triggered.

An intensive reaches the level talk therapy can’t. EMDR and IFS work with your nervous system, where the pattern is stored, and the longer format gives that work the room it needs to settle in, go all the way to the roots, and come back up gently.

Are Therapy Intensives The Right Fit for You?

Therapy intensivesWho EMDR & IFS intensives are for:

Intensives are a strong fit if you're:

  • Ambitious

  • Deeply feeling

  • Ready to heal on a deeper level

  • You've likely done therapy before

  • You're worn out from managing patterns and using coping mechanisms.

  • You don’t want more understanding of why you feel the way you feel. You want to be finally free of the experiences that are holding you back.

EMDR and IFS Therapy Intensives
Are NOT a good fit for you if:

My intensive format works best when the rest of your life is (relatively) steady.

This work may not be the right fit right now if:

  • You're currently struggling with substance use or another active addiction.

  • You're experiencing active thoughts of suicide or self-harm and need more immediate, ongoing support.

  • Your basic needs, like food, housing, or physical safety, aren't reliably met right now.

  • You're in or leaving an unsafe relationship.

  • You're in the middle of a major life upheaval, like a move, a divorce, or an acute crisis.

In these situations, steady, consistent support is the better starting place.

An EMDR & IFS intensive can help if you struggle with:

Are you a therapist doing your own healing work?

Many of my clients are therapists themselves. Whether you want to help the parts of you that get activated at work, experience EMDR and IFS from the client perspective, or dedicate uninterrupted time to your own growth, an intensive gives you the space for your own healing.

An intensive reaches past what you already know and shifts how it feels.
